Week 2

Last week only me and Michael were present at the seminar. So we discussed a briefly about the structure of our proposal to the charity organisation, Christian Aid.
We decided this event will be a Hallmark event. The content will allows it to be political as Christian Aid are support fair trading and diminishing poverty as part of its policy. We decided it will also be a cultural collaboration as the even will be taking place during the winter season and it ties in with the Christmas celebrations. Christian aid is represented internationally and we decided to invite guests and sponcers who support Christain aid from every country. The actual production of the event is still to be confirmed with the rest of the team members.
During the seminar we went over an event management process which out lines as follows;
  • Research
  • Design
  • Planning
  • Co-ordination
  • Evaluation

We also discussed the differnt roles that stake holders play and are affected when an event is organised.

We learned from Golblatts 5 W's model as follows how to put our own event in perspective when organising;

  • Why
  • Who
  • When
  • Where
  • What

From these questions we can fill in the blanks and this allows to be more of an understanding when conceptulising our event.

First Blog - 14/02/07

I am writing this first blog from memory of last weeks Seminar.
I feel that progress has been made from last week as we all discussed together as a group all the differnt methods of overcoming the challenge that has been set to us.
We have assigned jobs to the members of our group as follows;

John will handle the OPERATIONS of the event
Micheal will handle the COMMERCIAL aspects of the event
Julien will handle the MARKETING of the event
Rishi (me) will handle the PRODUCTION of the event

i feel this has been evenly spilt however when we were all looking at the differnt factors involved within our roles for this event, it seems that John has the heavier work load, thus all of us as a group will also help him through the OPERATIONS aswell.

While completing the first employability task, i assumed that it was really simply, however after completing it i found it really useful to re make my CV with the skills i have found in the task. This has made me realise that there is actually a healthy reason for performing the employbility tasks and i hope to put more effort in to the next task.
